Join us.

We’re opening up our studio three times this summer:  Come for a simple lunch of local food, hear an accomplished artist talk about their work and its connection to community, and see what we’re up to.  This summer, we’ve invited:

July 5:  Visual artist Avy Claire  (www.avyclaire.com)

July 12:  Writer and poet Deborah Cummins  (www.deborahcummins.com)

July 19:  Visual artist Mary Barnes (www.marybarnesart.com )

The talks will start promptly at 12, lunch is at 1, and you’re welcome to stay and chat afterwards.  Unfortunately, we have limited space, so please RSVP, letting us know which day you’d like to attend, to rsvp@noreliusstudio.com.  We’ll respond within a week, and give you directions to our studio in South Brooksville.  Apologies in advance if we can’t accommodate you.

Woven with our design work in 2012, we’re asking ourselves:

How can our work positively influence residential design, helping a wide spectrum of people live sustainably, with beauty, and deeply connected to community?

We’ve started the work in 2011, donating 2% of our income to these California and Maine organizations that emphasize food/community, art/community, and housing/community:

Edible Schoolyard (www.edibleschoolyard.org)

Maine Farmland Trust (www.mainefarmlandtrust.org)

Inner City Arts (www.inner-cityarts.org)

Haystack Mountain School of Crafts (www.haystack-mtn.org)

Habitat for Humanity, Greater Los Angeles (www.habitatla.org)

Habitat for Humanity, Midcoast Maine (www.midcoasthabitat.org)

Watch for us this year as we explore these issues in our work and in a series of lunches at our studios in California and Maine.  We hope you’ll be a part of the conversation.
